Lauren Carleton PT, DPT – SPEAR Physical Therapy
Lauren is the Clinical Director of SPEAR’s Tribeca – Chambers Street location and a Certified Hand Therapist. Lauren moved to NYC in 2010, where she attended and graduated from Columbia University with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. At Columbia, Lauren was the APTA representative for Columbia’s PT program, attending student conclaves and actively participating in APTA events. Prior to graduate school, Lauren received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from The University of Western Ontario, a small town outside of Toronto, her hometown.
Lauren has most of her clinical experience in outpatient orthopedics. She recently received her Certification in Hand Therapy in 2017, and along with her interest in hands, she also loves to work with a variety of different patients, body parts, and injuries; She is currently studying for her Certification in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. Since joining the SPEAR team, she has also become more involved with some women’s health, chronic pain patients, and a wide range of post-operative care.
After making the move to NYC, Lauren fell in love with the people and the city. She loves spending her free time visiting her family in Toronto and housing all of her Canadian visitors. She was not active in sports throughout college, but did find her calling later in life when she started practicing Muay Thai, which she did until her move to NYC. Lauren likes to stay active, trying out new running routes around the city and taking Spanish lessons in her neighborhood, as well as spending time enjoying what the city has to offer with her family and friends.
SPEAR is offering Telehealth PT services for all of our patients (new and current) that are unable to come into the clinic. It's a great way to connect, coach you on your exercises, and help make sure you're still making progress while you're stuck at home. Here's the quick version:
- Sessions are 30 minutes long through video chat and would be with a licensed physical therapist
- You can use a cell phone, laptop, tablet, etc - anything that can browse through Chrome or Firefox
- Cost per session is the same rate you would pay for an in-office visit, depending on your copay/coinsurance. Self-pay rate is $75 per session
- We can schedule pretty much anytime that works for both parties involved
Lauren is the most amazing physical therapist I’ve ever met! I am a professional dancer, based in NYC and met her nearly five years ago while recovering from surgery from peroneal tendon subluxation. Since then she has been my go to PT and has allowed me to successfully recover from a second ankle surgery, hip surgery, and wrist surgery. While she is a Certified Hand Therapist, she is excellent at analyzing movement for all body parts. Her analyzation and hands on work is superior. Thanks to her I was able to complete two years on a Tony award winning Broadway First National Tour. Forever grateful!
