Kayte Hughes, LPC, NCC, CMAC, Performance Mental Health Counselor
Kayte serves the dance community as a Nationally Board Certified Counselor (NCC), Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a solution-focused theoretical orientation. Kayte’s passion for counseling lies within the principles of providing all people with unconditional positive regard and validation. Kayte earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and is currently a doctoral candidate in Performance Psychology. Kayte’s doctoral research focuses on the emotional intelligence of teachers and the correlation to their students’ performance results. Kayte works at a creative university as the lead performance mental health outreach counselor and has provided services to collegiate NAIA national champions in several sports. Kayte’s practice is complemented by her professional experiences in college and career counseling, community mental health, service to the city as an art commissioner, and having grown up in the performing arts as an artist-athlete herself; she trained for 13 years at the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, taught dance throughout college in Santa Fe, NM, and as an adult taught and competed professionally in ballroom. In her spare time, Kayte’s loves the supporting the local performing arts and visiting the beach!
