Dr. Kimberly Schumacher, PT, DPT, – Relevé Physical Therapy
Dr. Kimberly Schumacher is a licensed physical therapist and founder of Relevé Physical Therapy who specializes in outpatient orthopedics with a performing arts & dance medicine focus. Kimberly received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2013 and has spent the past 6 years working in Chicago in the performing arts scene as an onsite and touring physical therapist with the Joffrey Ballet and backstage with several Broadway in Chicago musicals. She has experience treating dancers and performers of all ages from adolescent, pre-professional, competitive, collegiate to the professional level. As a former dancer herself, she recognizes first-hand the importance of having a medical provider who understands the unique demands and esthetics of dance.
Recently following the return to her home state of Wisconsin, she created Relevé Physical Therapy, a mobile concierge physical therapy and dance medicine company where she can live out her passion of sharing her expertise by educating and providing care for young dancers in the communities where she was once inspired years ago.
She has completed continuing education in Mulligan and Maitland-based manual therapy techniques as well as rehab-based pilates principles and is certified in instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM), blood flow restriction therapy, myofascial cupping and dry needling. She has trained under leaders in the field and received her Dance Medicine Certificate from Westside Dance Physical Therapy in New York in 2016.
Kimberly’s treatment philosophy is to target not only the symptom, but to reach the dysfunction at the source using evidence-based practice with a manual therapy focus to optimize function and maximize each dancer’s movement potential.
