Cara Joy L. Granada – DPT, CLT, Pelvic Health Therapist
Cara is a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy, Certified Lymphedema Therapist, and Pelvic Health Therapist. She is currently continuing her Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction Training with The Hesch Method. Cara graduated from The University of Saint Augustine for Health Sciences in December 2017. During her time there she grew to see how the pelvis was a true core stabilizer of the body. She has grown fond of the pelvis and has helped many athletes, including dancers relieve back pain, hip pain, even ankle pain by using her substantial knowledge of the pelvis. Cara is also an avid lover and doer of dance. Since she was seven years old, she has danced in various divisions of the art including choreography, traditional/cultural dances, step, salsa, and her favorite, the hip hop art form of Breaking.
Cara can provide a vast array of skills for the treatment of dancers. She is knowledgeable in myofascial release, cupping, kinesiotaping, and the movement science and analysis of dancers. She has completed extensive course work in massage, joint mobilization, and manual therapy of the entire body. In addition, Cara has treated a variety of dancers such as Pointe Ballerinas, Musical Theater Performers, Poppers from the hip hop scene, and Flamenco dancers, just to name a few.
Cara herself has competed as a dancer recently in the past few years and has made the top 8 in competition in both Freestyle Session Orlando and Temple Rock hip hop Jams in the B-girl category. She knows the discipline, ardor, and fatigue that comes with competition training and she knows how to prevent overuse injury.
Cara also develops her own technique and individualized care plan for each dancer using biomechanic video analysis of the dancer's entire body; ensuring functional training and cross-training designed to get the dancer ready for competition and advance to reach their goals. Currently, she is taking home visits, online consultations, on-site physical therapy for dance events, and private sessions.
She has never worked a day in her life because she loves what she does!
