Dr. Vita Maida is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, personal trainer, and competitive ballroom and Latin dancer whose career reflects a lifelong dedication to movement. She began her dance training at the age of two, studying ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and multiple additional styles before ultimately specializing in international ballroom and Latin dance.

After being inspired by Dancing with the Stars at the age of nine, Dr. Maida pursued ballroom dance competitively, traveling throughout the United States to train and compete. Her achievements include placing second at Nationals in her Pro-Am division and seventh in the world at the prestigious Ohio Star Ball.

At eighteen, while preparing to audition for So You Think You Can Dance, she sustained a Grade II hamstring injury during training. Confronting the physical and emotional realities that often accompany injury in the performing arts, she chose to prioritize long-term health over short-term opportunity. That decision became a defining moment in her professional journey.

Motivated by her experience, Dr. Maida pursued advanced training in physical therapy and strength and conditioning to better serve the unique biomechanical and performance demands of dancers. Her clinical approach is rooted in evidence-based practice while remaining deeply informed by her personal experience as a competitive performer. She recognizes dancers as elite athletes and provides care that reflects the precision, discipline, and artistry required of their craft.

Through Doctors for Dancers, Dr. Maida remains dedicated to fostering a culture in which injury prevention, intelligent training, and performance longevity are standard practice rather than afterthoughts. Her work is guided by the belief that strong, educated dancers are empowered dancers and capable of sustaining both their health and their passion for years to come.
