Cicely Hart, PT, DPT, MS, CSCS, MFDc
Cicely Hart, PT, Doctor of Physical Therapy, MS, CSCS, MFDc graduated from University of California at Davis with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science /Exercise Physiology in 1999. She then graduated in 2002 from Regis University School for Health Care Professions in Denver with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy. She went on to complete a Doctorate in Physical Therapy with emphasis on orthopedic manual therapy in 2003. Her Pilates education has been through Balanced Body University with Elizabeth Larkam and Tom McCook. Cicely is Oov Level 3 certified and she recently completed Corealign training in 2022.
Her experience as a former competitive gymnast, dancer, cheerleader, swimmer, water polo player and triathlete has enhanced her formal education and training. Current activities include inline speedskating marathon, jam skating, surfing and, of course, Pilates.
Cicely became interested in Pilates in the early 1990s after seeing firsthand how transforming and effective it could be when taught by a well-versed instructor who knew not only what to do but why to do it. Cicely knows how frustrating it can be to recover from injury and also how it is to live with potentially recurrent symptoms. Pilates has kept her moving, playing and able to boogie down with her young daughter and puppy.
She is constantly amazed at how wonderful Pilates is at isolating a particular movement dysfunction and then training the body to correct it. She believes that the integration of manual physical therapy to restore optimal biomechanics along with the skilled use of Pilates to retrain proper movement patterns is the most effective approach to achieving functional goals. She loves to partner with each client to identify their particular issues and then find the strategies that work best for them so that, in time, they acquire a skill set which empowers them to manage their own unique body.
Cicely has directed the dancer wellness and injury prevention program at Mills since its inception in 2013. She has worked with local dance companies and broadway shows providing physical therapy and wellness/prevention services. She has a clinical practice at Probalancestudio.com and teaches Franklin-method based movement and Oov courses at BeWellStayWell.net. She is also currently developing her telehealth/DancePT practice at ResilientPTPilates.com.
