Dr. Meghan Gearhart, PT, DPT – Charlotte Dance Medicine
Hi, I’m Meghan! I own Charlotte Dance Medicine and as a physical therapist I help dancers build confidence in their bodies while healing from and preventing injuries and feel empowered to make decisions related to their health and performance goals.
My path to working as a dance physical therapist started as a 4 year old in a tutu followed by a B.A. in Dance from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, M.S. in Health & Rehabilitation Sciences (Sports Medicine concentration) from the University of Pittsburgh, and Doctor of Physical Therapy from Emory University.
Throughout that journey, I struggled with multiple dance-related injuries and healthcare experiences that left me feeling misunderstood, dismissed, and frustrated. My goal is to provide you with a supportive environment in which you feel seen AND heard. One that you can be honest about what you’re feeling, your fears, and your dreams. I will commit to walking alongside you wherever you are on your journey, as long as you’re willing to commit to yourself. You deserve that.
I work with dancers in their homes, dance studios, and Pilates studios throughout Charlotte, NC and surrounding areas, and support dancers outside Charlotte virtually. I also provide backstage coverage for touring shows, present at national and international dance medicine conferences, and guest lecture for collegiate dance programs. Staying committed to the health and wellness of local dancers, I also facilitate dancer screenings and injury prevention and performance improvement group workshops for dancers, parents, and teachers throughout Charlotte.
