Bio:

Delaney Mena is a professional dancer and personal trainer from Long Island, NY, currently living in Honolulu, HI. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance, with concentrations in Modern and Ballet Performance from Marymount Manhattan College, and is a NASM Personal Trainer with specializations in Corrective Exercise and Stretching and Flexibility. She interned with a fellow dance specialist starting as a freshman in college, which led to her founding Dance Movement Training in 2022, combining her love for dance and fitness to work with dancers to enhance and progress their technique through strength and flexibility training.

Delaney grew up as a competitive dancer at her local studio and expanded her training into classical ballet and modern techniques at the start of high school. Throughout her high school and college career, Delaney trained, interned, and performed professionally with many concert dance companies and choreographers in New York City. Delaney was given the opportunity to work closely with Tracie Stanfield as an apprentice in Synthesis Dance, Yoshito Sakuraba, Nancy Lushington, Sidra Bell, Ballet Hispánico’s Ballet Master, Juan Carlos Peñuela, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s Principal Dancer, Linda Celeste Sims. She also trained at the Martha Graham School and with the company members of Rioult Dance NY.

Throughout her training, Delaney dealt with many injuries as a result of her hypermobility and connective tissue disorders. This is where her love for strength training not only helped her continue dancing but grew into a mission to help young dancers train safely and effectively for long, successful careers. She focuses her work on dancers ages 11-25 and currently works with dancers online throughout the majority of the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Australia. She primarily works with dancers in a one-on-one setting but also offers strength group classes.
