Bio:

Amanda Hodgetts, PT, DPT is a Physical Therapist in the Baltimore area who specializes in treating dancers and athletes of all ages. Amanda found her love of dance at a young age, originally performing with an Irish Step Dancing School, then expanding into jazz, modern, ballet and swing. She attended University of Maryland College Park where she continued to study and participate in dance. During that time she found her passion for working with athletes and performance artists and changed her career path to physical therapy, graduating with a B.S. in Kinesiology. She received her Physical Therapy degree at the University of Maryland Baltimore and spent much of her clinical education focusing on the treatment of the athletic population.

Amanda is currently working for FX Physical Therapy in Mt. Washington, an outpatient clinic where she treats both dancers and many other athletes. Amanda has a passion for educating dancers and the dance community on health, wellness and strength training to ensure dancers can achieve a long and healthy career. She teaches injury prevention and wellness workshops at various dance studios and to university/college dance teams around the Baltimore area. Amanda is one of FX Physical Therapists in partnership with the Ballet Theater of Maryland, treating dancers in both Annapolis and Baltimore.

Amanda has a passion for bridging the gap between strength training and artistic performance, applying both her certifications in Barbell Rehabilitation and evidence based research to better the treatment of dancers. A one-one-one evaluation encompasses a comprehensive assessment of daily movements, dance specific movements, manual therapy as well as a home care plan with access to both a portal and app with individualized exercises. Amanda hopes to not only extend the longevity of dancers’ careers, but also equip the artists with the skills they need to build autonomy outside of therapeutic treatment!
