Megan Barker, PT, DPT, OCS, WHC – Rhythm Health LLC
As a former collegiate dancer, Megan understands the demands and challenges dancers face, as well as the need for specialized treatment. Her experiences with her own injuries and journey through the healthcare system have made her a compassionate and caring clinician, as well as an advocate for dancers to receive the best care possible. Megan wants her clients to understand how to safely recover from an injury and return to their full potential, and also prevent any recurrence, teaching them skills to prevent other injuries.
In 2020, Megan opened her own mobile concierge physical therapy practice in Northern Virginia that focuses on helping dancers. She is also passionate about helping women and girls with hypermobility (including hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder). She sees clients one-on-one in their home or the studio for a thorough evaluation and develops a personalized treatment program to return to dance in the most effective and efficient way possible.
Megan graduated with her Doctor of Physical Therapy from The George Washington University, and a B.A. in Dance from Santa Clara University. She completed an additional independent study to become an Orthopedic Certified Specialist through ABPTS. She is an adjunct professor in The George Washington University DPT program. Megan is also a certified health coach, supporting hypermobile clients to make lasting changes to reach their health goals. She is a member of the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) in order to stay up to date on evidence-based practice for dancers. Megan enjoys giving workshops at local studios to assist with injury prevention and recovery, and how to safely increase flexibility. She also loves working with Broadway dancers that tour through the DC area.
