Dr. Jemimah D Simms, owner of Fluid Motion Physical Therapy, PLLC specializes in treating the moving athlete, more specifically, the dancer. Jemimah started her dancing journey at the age of 2, primarily focused on ballet and modern dance which culminated in graduating with a BFA in Choreography from Temple University in 2003. Dr. Simms continued her dancing career in Manhattan as a freelance performer and at the same time. a certified personal trainer. While supporting herself as a personal trainer, Jemimah had the chance to shadow physical therapists while her clients were in physical therapy after surgery. This piqued her interest in rehabilitation. After sustaining multiple stress fractures that are commonly seen in dancers, Jemimah sought treatment from a great physical therapist, but he didn't know exactly what the needs of a dancer were. This completed her resolve to pursue a career in Physical Therapy.

Dr. Simms obtained her clinical doctorate from Long Island University, graduating in 2015. During her time in school and upon entering the field, she worked in a variety of settings but has always known her passion is  treating dancers as they have very specialized needs. Part of Jemimah's love of her career, in the addition to treating dancers and athletes, is the continuous learning. Jemimah's treatments sometimes include Graston-informed instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization and manual therapy techniques from a Maitland approach. Jemimah's favorite will always be learning new ways to work with dancers including assessing pointe readiness, injury prevention, rehabilitation and wellness that helps dancers move and stay safe in their bodies.
